 Snuggle Baby Hands Free Minimize
Tracy and Toni

Babywearing means Baby can snuggle Mama, look around, learn about the world, and go to sleep as soon as she's tired. All from the safety of Mama's back. Mama's hands are free for shopping, and free to tickle Baby's toes or play with her hands. This is the Tibetan back carry and I am using a 5 yard piece of batik cloth I found at Joanna's last year. ~Tracy Dower

 Linette's Story Minimize

My son, Cole, has always loved to be carried. I started out with a ring sling but that is harder to use now that he is 15 months old and 24 lbs, so I have been trying out other carriers.

Last night he was really fussy, didn't want to be put down while we got dinner ready, had to be held. So I went to the closet and pulled out my gauze wrap and showed it to him. He was willing to be put down when he saw that I had the wrap and giggled as I threw him onto my back for a "strap carry". He lay his head on my back for a moment as I threaded the wrap under his bum and under opposite legs, a nice mini hug.

I held him on my back for almost an hour while we put away laundry, got dinner ready and did other evening chores. He was calm and interested the whole time. It was lovely to know that I didn't have to worry about a fussy baby, as long as he was on my back he was happy.

I felt so secure with him up there too. I could bend over and move around and he could push against the straps with his legs to see over my shoulder more easily and still not get out. I could feel him wiggling when he wanted down and was able to change positions so he could see better and would settle down right away. It was great!

 Where IS the baby? Minimize
One day when Audrey was about five months old, I lost her. I looked all over the house. I started going from room to room faster and faster, checking and rechecking all the rooms. Finally, I stood in the middle of the living room and started sobbing. I was just about to call 911 -- someone had come into my home and stolen my precious baby. My four year old, Isabella, looked up at me and said worriedly "Mama, why are you crying?". I said "I can't find Audrey ANYWHERE!". She tilted her little head to the side and looked at me like I was INSANE. She said "Mommy, she's on your back." Audrey had fallen asleep and I got busy and forgot she was there. ~ Tracy Dower

You are a Master Babywearer Minimize
In China, it is said that "A master is anyone who knows more than you do." So, you are all master babywearers compared with most of the moms in the world. You do NOT need to know everything there is to know about babywearing -- if you know even ONE carry with even ONE type of carrier, you are in possession of knowledge other moms desperately want -- even if they do not yet know they want it. ;-D Therefore, you should all feel confident enough to teach others! So, pick a public place, pick a day of the week, and start sharing your skills with other families! Then, list yourself here.
