Government officials can be a great tool!  There are so many government agencies such as social services, the department of children and family services, WIC (Women Infants Children food program- a great promoter of breastfeeding) that help low income families.

It would be wonderful if these agencies could give slings to low income families who otherwise might not be able to purchase their own.  You could also share sewing instructions on how to make your own sling inexpensively (such as mamatoto's simple piece of cloth).  Drop a line to your congressman or senator and let hem know how important you think baby slings are, and why you think these families deserve them!  Write your governor or even the President!

If you are a particularly good writer and highly motivated, you may even consider writing a grant proposal to try to secure grant funds to provide low income families with slings.  There are loads of government and private grants available but finding them may be difficult.
